Tip of the Week

Since its beginning in the late 1970’s, the sport of triathlon has grown in popularity among recreational enthusiasts. USAT, triathlon’s sanctioning body, reported that last year alone between 200,000 and 250,000 people participated in the sport.

Another sign that the sport is becoming mainstream is that Hunter Kemper, a United States Olympic Triathlete, was recently featured on the cover of a Wheaties box!

Triathlon is a complex multisport that can seem very intimidating for beginners. Combining three different athletic disciplines into one event creates many unique challenges. The goal of this tip book is to provide a resource for triathlon ‘newbies’ who are looking for answers to frequently asked questions about the sport. The tips offered in this book are easy to follow and serve as guidelines for a safer, more rewarding and enjoyable triathlon experience. Much of what is presented in this book is based on ‘lessons learned’ from my personal training and racing over the past 15 years. Additionally, intermediate level triathletes may use these tips in efforts to take their race performance to the next level. It is my hope that, regardless of triathlon experience, these tips are both educational and inspirational, motivating you to enjoy many years of successful triathlon participation.
